If I keep a green bough in my heart, the singing bird will come.
Chinese Proverb

I dont know much about birds, heck I havent even heard a bird in over 10 years. For those of you who dont know I am hearing impaired. I have 80% hearing loss in both ears. But that is not the what I am getting at. I have been outside a bit lately, learning new things with my flowers and plants and guess what I found to my delight! A birds nest. Your thinking she delights easily well I dont remember seeing one up close that actually had eggs or a bird in it. Until now. In my flopity fern when I was watering it there it was! I was like a little kid, my guy reading his book and me with the water pale...ohhhhh ohhhh looook! A birds nest! Get my camera hurry honey, hurry!

No I didnt touch it and for the first time in years I heard a bird. Mom! She was not very happy that I was looking at her precious babies to be.
My guy told me there was another nest with actualy babies in it in the carport and of course I was like ohhhhh I wanna see.

We dont have any bird houses and after visiting Miss Sandys page yesterday with her absolutly unbelievable birdhouse I found myself a little envious. No not envious, in awe actually. The detail Miss Sandy put into the little house cannot be described in words. You just have to see it for your self. As for me I think may make that one of my "rainyday" projects.A simple birdhouse or two. If nothing else it gives me a reason to visit Micheals!

IN THE SPRING, AT THE END OF THE DAY,
YOU SHOULD SMELL LIKE DIRT.
MARGARET ATWOOD

I have never had a flower garden before. I am 36 years old and this is my first. I spent over 4 hours "getting started" in the yard today. I have had all week off and I start today. Silly me. I forced myself to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for a few days. It was actually pretty nice...the first two days. But enough of that, today I started on the yard. On my flowers. Actually cleaning out the beds that were here before me and stuffed with pine straw and leaves to protect some wonderful dirt. Not that I know dirt but this stuff was clean and moist and smelled...well like dirt!
I raked and picked weeds and cut some dead bushes. I am in love with these zenas

I helped a friend take care of some last summer and they were wonderfully easy...very thirsty lil buggers but sturdy. So I found a plant sale and got a flat for 10 bux. I am going to go back so I can finish what I have started, which is this...

I am going around the base of the fig tree. The soil is awesome and the tree very pretty in the summer.

Last weekend I started these wave petunias for the side of the house under and around the scraggly box bushes we have, just to have some color. Not sure how that is going to go, they have sprouted but they look VERY VERY delicate. I am not sure how I will fair with delicate flowers.

Last weekend we put these hanging flowers up with the fern. I don't even know what they are called but they are very easy to take care of. My fern looks pathetic compared to when we bought it. Don't know what that is about.

And of course MORE zenas...just because I love them!

Well that is a start, wouldn't ya say? I would really love some advice about some EASY flowers to plant. They will be mostly in full sun. If you have any suggestions let me know! It was very peaceful today sitting in the sun and getting my hands dirty. I have found yet another first that I love.
May the Peace of The Lord be with you all.

Little Boys

My marine came in for the Easter holiday. I miss him very much. It was wonderful to see him and his brothers "play" like kids in the pretty weather. I does my heart wonders to see these young men act like small children. I know they have so much going on, the marines and school with that, high school and just about every extra curricular activity that comes with that and Jr. High and well....girls.

So, to see them just act silly and play around was wonderful. It didn't last long enough and makes me sigh to think of all the times I was "too busy" when they were younger to sit and watch them play. I grasp every second I can now. Memories are like a scent sometimes. It passes your nose and you remember...you inhale deeply trying to hold on to that memory. Then as quick as it came its gone. Hug em, Hold em, Love em. I am so truely blessed and I thank The Lord everyday for sharing His children with me.

May the Peace of The Lord be with you all.

Wackey Weather

We got NO snow this winter. Nope, none. Until almost spring. Took this last week. The weatherman said prepair for snow and we all went....um riiight. That morning we saw some flakes but the ground was muddy and wet and nothing was sticking. So my sister and I hop in the truck and head to town to do some girl shopping. We walked out of a store and it was a winter wonderland. We both were like little kids almost two inches had stuck while we were in the store. So we decided to head home because it started coming down really fast. By the time we got home we had it all planned out.

Tobogans, gloves and boots and we were ready to go. We jumped on the 4-wheelers like 15 year olds and took off. Did some crazy donuts then came back. I almost forgot for a bit there that I am almost 40! It was fun tho!

Time for a change

Well, I have read back and realized I have been writing TOO myself...ABOUT myself and have pretty much BORED myself awake. Yes, awake. For those of you who listened and helped me thank you very very much. I feel much better and yes I am still alcohol free, I have lost count of the days now, something like 57? It feels wonderful now that the headaches and such are subsiding. I am soooo ready to start writing funny, witty stuff again. But my wonderful guy just brought a pizza and a movie home, so I will get started in the morning, right now it is time to go get spoiled. May the peace of The Lord be with you all!
